Virgil Lee "Murph" Cox 1924 - 2010
Virgil L. (Murph) Cox, 86 of Decatur passed away on March 22,
2010 at 10:39 a.m. at his home.
Virgil was born in January of 1924, in Vermont, Illinois, the son
of Charles and Dorothy Cox. He married Rosalie Baldwin in
September of 1946. She survives.
Also surviving are four children, Vicki (Gregg) Moutoux of Toulon,
Steve (Vicki Mee) Cox of Portland, Oregon, Julie (David) Gross of
Pelham, Massachusetts, and Jeff (Judy) Cox of Decatur; three
grandchildren, Sarah (Jeff) Fullilove of Savoy and Morgan and
Sean Cox of Los Angeles; and one sister, Melba Knight of
Maryville, Tennessee.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers,
Ralph, Don, and Merle Cox.
Virgil served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He
retired from Illinois Bell Telephone Company after 37 years.
He enjoyed bowling, playing golf, working in his yard, and
especially spending time with his family.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to
Decatur Memorial Hospital Hospice Care.
